Juniper Networks VPN and Snow Leopard

If you're using OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.x) and trying to connect to a Juniper Networks VPN device you'll notice fairly quickly that your VPN session is never established properly.

Here's how to resolve that issue.

  1. Check to see if you even have a "/Applications/Network Connect.app"
  2. If not, download and install from: https://your.juniper.device.address/dana-cached/nc/NetworkConnect.dmg
  3. In terminal run:
    1. sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/juniper/nc/6*
    2. sudo mkdir '/Applications/Network Connect.app/Contents/Frameworks'
  4. Logout of the Juniper VPN web portal and log back in. The Network Connect app should start automatically - if not try clicking "Start" again.

You should now have an established VPN session!
