Tool Modified

So I've modified one of the tools that the online activists are distributing to disrupt the GOP websites.

Now it'll disrupt their own website. Get it here.

The perl script require that you have access to system[s] that have perl installed. If you do not have perl installed, you can get it from:

http://www.perl.org/
http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/

If you are on *nix you might want to append an & to the end of the script to make it run in the background, but you might want to moniter it in another window so that you can see when the site starts to reject your connections.

Online Activists Lash Out

So a group of online-activists (I refuse to call them hackers) are planning an online protest during the Republican National Convention.

They are providing scripts that will target GOP sites with Denial of Service attacks. This for the most part is very stupid in my opinion. These people refer to themselves as "hackers" yet are providing tools that destroy the very heart of Hacking. Free Speech and Freedom of Expression. Worse is the fact that they are doing it under an umbrella of secrecy.

Over the next couple of days I'll be modifying the tools that they are providing to not target the GOP websites but their very own websites.

Craigslist & Ebay

So it looks as though Ebay now owns approximately 25% of Craigslist.

I don't really know how I feel about this. Ebay didn't screw up Paypal and hopefully they won't screw up Craigslist as well. Only time will tell.
